The Office of Teaching and Learning was established in July 2009 to center on teaching and providing supports to all teachers in order for all students to achieve at their highest levels.

Office of Teaching and Learning
The office is divided into different functions:
- Office of Extended Learning
- Office of Literacy
- Humanities Education (High School English, Social Studies, Media Services, World and Classical Languages, Fine Arts)
- STEM Education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Health)
- Early Childhood Education
- Enrichment & Multicultural Education including ESOL and Physical Education
- Learning to Work Pathways including Career and Technology and JROTC
Teacher Leaders
Teacher Leaders are an integral part of the office. Teacher Leaders teach 50% of their day at their home school. Teachers can visit these model classrooms for support and ideas. The Teacher Leaders also provide to support to teachers by grade level through direct classroom support or through professional development workshops.

Teacher Fellows
The Office of Teaching and Learning is staffed with several Teacher Fellows. These Teacher Fellows are classroom teachers but are released 100% of their time from their school for one year to provide direct classroom knowledge for the curriculum, benchmarks, and professional development. The Teacher Fellows gain valuable leadership skills during this year so when they return to their same school and classroom they will become an even stronger teacher and leader.
What We Do and Support We Provide:
- The Office of Teaching and Learning collaborates with administrators and teachers to provide guidance to instructional programs, ensuring that schools make adequate yearly progress (AYP) and students meet requirements for graduation.
- Upon request, staff in the Teaching and Learning provides professional development to schools, helping them to determine alignment of instruction to curriculum in tested areas in order to meet state requirements for AYP and high school graduation.
- Staff provides guidance on the various forms of assessment in order to inform instruction and promote student achievement.
