Office of Compensation
Mission Statement:
The purpose of the Office of Compensation is to develop, implement and administer classification and wage and salary programs for Baltimore City Public Schools (City Schools) that are compliant with applicable federal and state laws and regulations, Board rules, union contract provisions, and human resources policies, procedures, and guidelines, and that support City Schools goals for internal equity, external competitiveness, and accurate pay for City Schools personnel.

Overview of Business Unit:
The Office of Compensation administers the classification, wage, and salary programs for Baltimore City Public Schools for its five (5) employee unions, as well as programs for unaffiliated officers and staff. Responsible for the development and administration of classification and compensation policies and guidelines for all employee groups, jobs, and organizations. In addition, the office handles position analysis, job and position descriptions, pay/salary structures, related adjustments, iincentives, salary surveys/analyses, consultation and related reports for internal and external organizations. The Office of Compensation works in close coordination with the Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) department to ensure the effective update and maintenance of employee assignment and salary records.
