What is the Ethics Panel?

As established under the Code of Ethics, the Ethics Panel interprets the code and advises those subject to it. Members are appointed by the chair of the Board of School Commissioners for overlapping terms of three years (or until successors are appointed). The Panel consists of five members appointed by the Board Chair. Candidates are currently being sought to serve on the Baltimore City Public School Ethics Panel. Please keep reading to learn more!

Meet the Ethics Panel Members

Qualifications of eligible candidates:

  • Must be willing to volunteer their services.

  • Must not be employed by Baltimore City Public Schools or an employee of an entity that does business with or is under the authority of the School Board.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Must be an individual of known personal integrity.

  • Must possess a recognized knowledge and interest in government and civics.

  • It is preferred that members of the Ethics Panel be residents of the City of Baltimore and/or employed by a business entity located in the City of Baltimore or that conducts significant business operations within the City of Baltimore and that they maintain residency and employment for the duration of their appointment.

  • Legal or business background is preferred but not required.

Application Process:

Interested candidates are required to submit the following information:

  • A letter expressing the candidate's desire and willingness to serve.

  • A resume or brief record of the candidate's personal history and experience.

  • The names, addresses, and phone numbers of three references.

The deadline to apply is January 13, 2025.
Applications will be collected continuously and used whenever a vacancy occurs.
