Our Department, which is housed within the Office of Legal Counsel, contains three units:
Equal Educational/Employment Opportunity (EEO) & Title IX Compliance Unit: This unit supports employees and students with respect to equal opportunity and responds to complaints of discrimination filed by student, employees, and other stakeholders, based on race, ethnicity, color, ancestry, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, pregnancy/parenting status, disability, veteran status, genetic information, age, or other legally or constitutionally protected attributes or affiliations. The unit also responds to requests for accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). In addition, this unit fulfills the job duties and responsibilities of the Title IX Coordinator under federal law. For more information, see City Schools’ Notice of Non-Discrimination
Staff Investigations Unit: This unit investigates claims of employee misconduct. If you believe that an employee has violated a City Schools policy or regulation, you can report it to this unit directly or through the fraud hotline (1-800-679-0185).
Minority- and Women-owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) Unit: This unit helps ensure that minority- and women-owned businesses have a fair shot at securing City Schools contracting and subcontracting opportunities. This unit develops, implements, and manages activities designed to enhance and increase MWBE vendor participation in City Schools’ procurement and contracting opportunities, ensures compliance with MWBE requirements in state law and Board policies, and helps to build a pipeline for entrepreneurialism so that the students of Baltimore City Public Schools have increased opportunities to become the next generation of business leaders in the Baltimore community.
