Garrett Heights Elementary Middle School

About GHEMS

We Are Garrett Heights – A premier educational community inspiring academic excellence and nurturing human potential

Perched on a hill not far from Morgan State University, Garrett Heights Elementary Middle School (GHEMS), part of the Baltimore City Public School System, has been serving the Lauraville Community of Baltimore City since its foundation in 1899. Since that time, GHEMS has focused all its efforts in creating a positive environment for its students and their families. Those efforts continue as GHEMS has been recently designed as a Community School.

As a Community School, GHEMS continues to build on its foundation of providing a phenomenal environment in which all students can flourish and achieve academic excellence, by adding much needed community resources through strategic community partnerships. This integrated focus on academics, health and social services, youth and community development, and community engagement leads to improved student learning, stronger families, and healthier communities. We have an extraordinary learning community focused on student development and success.
