Hi Everyone!

My name is Ms. Gabby, I am a mental health provider at Harlem Park Elementary Middle School (HPEMS)! I help students, their teachers, and their families to understand each others' feelings, behaviors, and thoughts. I'm at HPEMS on Monday through Friday.

Some people see me because:

  • School is super stressful

  • They need to talk through difficult things

  • They’re having trouble focusing

  • They want help with their friendships or relationships

  • They worry a lot, even about stuff they know they don’t need to be worried about

  • They feel sad or angry

  • Someone who cares about them said they should

Just like teachers are experts in reading and math, and coaches are experts in sports and fitness, I’m an expert on feelings and growing up. I talk together with kids, their teachers, and the people who care for them to figure out ideas and actions to help make everyone feel better. When we meet, I ask everyone’s opinion on what is upsetting or frustrating, and help kids, their teachers, and the people who care for them to understand feelings and learn new skills to celebrate happy feelings and deal with tough feelings. Besides feelings, we also might talk about things like identity (what makes you you), behavior, doing well in school, or getting along with others. We have so much to learn from each other, and I look forward to us getting to know each other!

Take good care,
Ms. Gabby
