New Educator Onboarding and Induction

Welcome to our incredible district.  We cannot thank you enough for the time, effort, and energy you are going to share with your school community and our district.  Teachers make a huge difference in the lives of our students, and we have found that our students do the same for our teachers.  Just as our students will make some mistakes along the way, we expect that you will as well; it’s part of the process.  Below, we have an assortment of high-quality resources to help kickstart your learning and guide you along the way.

Charting success for your first year!

Per COMAR (13A.07.01), all early career teachers must receive ongoing support from a mentor. To support the development of effective school based mentoring programs, principals and assistant principals are encouraged to review these resources. Mentors must meet the criteria listed in this guidance. The Early Career Induction team will offer a Summer Mentor Institute for all school based mentors on June 17, 18 and June 20, 2025. Registration will begin on April 7, 2025.

If support is needed with reviewing and/or planning the school based mentoring program, please use this link to schedule a virtual or in-person meeting with the Early Career Induction team. Questions can be directed to Dana Collins, Coordinator: Early Career Induction and Mentoring, DCollins30@bcps.k12.md.us
