January 12, 2023 For Immediate Release.
Congratulations to Cadet Ava Lewis of Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, who has been awarded an Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) J100 scholarship!
The J100 Air Force JROTC Character-in-Leadership Scholarship program focuses on character, leadership, diversity, and citizenship, and inspires future leaders to pursue careers in the US Air Force and Space Force.
The J100 Air Force JROTC Character-in-Leadership program provides 100 cadets with a full scholarship for four years at any university or crosstown partner with an Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps detachment. Cadets in the program also receive an annual book stipend, a monthly cadet stipend, and $10,000 per year for university-owned housing.
Cadet Ava Lewis was also recently recognized for spending her summer learning to fly with the JROTC Air Force program. Poly’s Air Force JROTC aerospace science curriculum partners with the Empowerment Through Aviation (ETA) program. The ETA program is one of City Schools’ Career and Technical Education programs that prepares female students for careers in aviation and other STEM fields by earning a pilot’s license while still in school.
