Congratulations to Baltimore City Public Schools’ Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) for being recognized and awarded by the USDA as a Summer Food Service Program Superstar!
FNS manages the National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program and the At Risk After School Program. Last summer during the pandemic, Food and Nutrition served 613,273 meals at 161 meal sites across the staff. Staff made sure our young people received free, prepared meals, even if they weren’t participating in a summer program.
City Schools will be providing free meals again this summer to children starting today as part of the USDA-funded Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). Meals are available to all young people 18 or under, regardless of race, color, national origin, gender or disability. A person 19 years of age and over who has a mental or physical disability (as determined by a State or local educational agency) and who participates during the school year in a public or private non-profit school program (established for children with disabilities) is also eligible to receive meals.
