Revised: Small-Group Wednesdays

Last week, City Schools introduced its “Small Group Wednesdays” initiative for kindergarten students through grade 8. However, to keep you best informed, we want to clarify four things you need to know:

  1. Small-Group Wednesdays are regular school days with modified schedules. All students must attend all classes/programs in their schedule on Wednesdays, and attendance will be recorded. The school will give direction afterward as to how children should proceed to their small groups.
  2. Small-Group Wednesdays provide more time for students to receive additional supports. Students and teachers will work in small groupings to complete assignments, continue online intervention efforts, meet independently with teachers, or participate in student wholeness activities and clubs.
  3. Some classes will continue to be offered on Wednesdays, but with some minor changes. Resource classes such as art, physical education, and music will continue with different schedules to allow student participation in small groups. Additionally, science and social studies will also continue; Minor adjustments may be possible to support scheduling.

Example: An art class usually scheduled for 9 a.m. will be moved to 10 a.m. to accommodate a small group learning session at that earlier time.
  4. The start date for Small Group Wednesdays is different based on your student’s school. All schools will not start this initiative at the same time. You will receive correspondence from your child’s school about when the Small Group Wednesday initiative will start that will include any modifications to the student’s schedule. All students must attend all classes/programs by logging in as usual on Wednesdays.

Thank you for your continued support and patience as we work together to provide all students with the best learning experience possible. If you have any questions, please reach out to the school’s principal.
