City Schools outlined its efforts to expand fine arts offerings and improve student outcomes during a presentation to the Board of School Commissioners on February 13, 2024.
The presentation included a look back at the progress made by the system since the initial Fine Arts Plan was launched in 2018, including:
- Expansion of the Fine Arts Office from one to four employees
- The addition of 143 Fine Arts teachers since 2018
- Increased access to programming for all students
- Expanded curriculum and course offerings, including Pre-AP and AP opportunities
- Expanded arts-focused partnerships, programs, and investments
The new plan, Fine Arts 2.0, will maintain the priorities from the original Fine Arts plan, better align its priorities with measurable goals, and reflect the focus of the City Schools Equity Policy.
