[BALTIMORE, MD] — Baltimore City Public Schools (City Schools) is pleased to announce that the Board of School Commissioners will be accepting applications for candidates for the upcoming school year. Applications will be accepted from April 15 until May 20, 2024.

This is a great opportunity for individuals who are passionate about education and community involvement to make a meaningful impact on our students’ futures. The Baltimore City Board of School Commissioners (Board) are unpaid volunteers who raise the level of academic achievement for City Schools students and improve the district's management and administration.
Serving on the Board allows you to echo the voices of Baltimore’s youth, families, and community members when making important decisions. In their role, they set the district's vision, mission, strategic priorities, and goals, hire, and evaluate the City Schools' CEO, approve district curriculum and learning materials, approve the annual district budget, and much more.
Candidates interested in applying for the Board must meet the following qualifications:
Be a resident of Baltimore City.
Be at least 18 years of age.
Knowledge of and expertise in administering a large business, nonprofit, or government entity, and high-level management experience within such an entity.
Knowledge of and expertise in education.
Knowledge of, or personal or professional experience in, the education of children with disabilities.
