Against a backdrop featuring the wide range of possibilities for children in Baltimore City, City Schools joined community members and stakeholders this week to unveil its new strategic direction: Portrait of a Graduate. The Portrait represents a shared vision between the district and the surrounding community, articulating aspirations for all students in Baltimore City.
Centering community and student input, the Portrait of a Graduate provides the strategic direction to ensure students develop the interpersonal skills and abilities needed to enter higher education, have a family-sustaining career, and achieve their dreams. As part of the launch, Montebello Elementary/Middle School students unveiled the five core competencies that will define our scholars: confident, effective communicators, responsible and global citizens, adaptable and flexible, and creative and innovative thinkers.
The plan details how the district will provide resources, support, and opportunities to our students, putting them in a position to succeed during their time at City Schools and after graduation. City Schools will use this vision to inform their work, from the school level to the Central Office.
