Congratulations to Charles Carroll Barrister Elementary School and James McHenry Elementary/Middle School for earning their first-ever Excellence in Gifted and Talented Education (EGATE) Awards! This year, five Baltimore City Public Schools were honored with the EGATE designation, bringing the total to 22 City Schools recognized since 2014.

The EGATE School Awards, presented by the Maryland State Department of Education and the State Advisory Council on Gifted and Talented Education, celebrate schools that meet Maryland's Criteria for Excellence in Gifted and Talented Education. At City Schools, students identified as gifted, advanced, or talented receive tailored Instructional Learning Plans (ILPs) to support their academic, social, and emotional growth.
