Dear Digital Harbor School Community,
It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that I write to inform you of an immeasurable loss. Akim Duchard-Davis, a beloved member of our Ram family, was tragically killed in an accident late yesterday evening. No words can adequately express the grief we are experiencing. Akim was a bright, compassionate student who touched the lives of many in our school community. His loss is devastating, and our hearts are broken. We encourage students to talk to trusted adults, support one another with compassion, seek help if struggling, and remember that it's okay to not be okay.
We understand that this tragedy will deeply impact our entire school community. To support our students and staff during this difficult time, we are offering.
Grief counseling available by our school crisis team in Room 270
Support for staff through employee assistance
A safe space for students to gather, remember, and support one another
We recognize that grief affects everyone differently. It is normal to experience a range of emotions:
Shock
Sadness
Anger
Confusion
Feeling overwhelmed
We are supporting Akim's family during this unimaginable time. We ask for privacy and respect for their grief. In the coming days and weeks, we will continue to provide support, create spaces for remembrance, and help our community heal together.
