Learn the foundations of ballet and modern dance with professional dancer and City Schools Educator, Morenike Seaborn

Morenike, a Baltimore native, began formal dance training at the age of five with the Susan Ina Dance Studio and later graduated with a diploma majoring in dance from the Baltimore School for the Arts high school. Morenike studied and worked with the late Sylvester Campbell, Stephanie Powell, Pearl Primus, Laura Alonso, Judith Leifer, Doug Bentz, Ron Hinton, and Hinton Battle. She has also performed in many dance competitions. At the age of 13, she participated in Hal Jackson’s Miss Talented Teen Pageant. Morenike won first runner up to the winner Jada Pinkett. She has danced in several concerts including one with Gregory Hines at the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in Baltimore, Maryland. She has worked with notable dance companies such as the Philadelphia Dance Company “Philadanco”, and as the Assistant Artistic Director and Principal Dance Company member of Lisanga Ya Bana Kin Congolese Dance Company, Xpressive 4ever dance Inc., and Y.A.T.T.A.S Performing Arts Program.  Morenike’s choreography has been featured at various Baltimore City Festivals such as Artscape, Book Fair, and Light City for the past three years. She has also worked with notable choreographers such as Blondell Cummings, Gene Sagan, and Oumou Sangare. As an educator, Morenike has taught at the Academy of Arts and Sciences, and Mitchell/Robinson Youth Theater Company.

As a graduate with a background in modern dance and a minor in psychology from Point Park University, and a master’s degree in social work and youth from Drexel University, Morenike uses her background to create innovative ways of providing quality and effective community resources for the residents of Baltimore City. Morenike is currently teaching dance for Baltimore City Public Schools at Lillie May Carroll Jackson Charter School. She is also Founder/Director of Keys 2 Life, Inc. A program that offers Dance, Visual Arts, Mentoring, and family support services.
