Garrett Heights had the pleasure of hosting a special group of lunch buddies—the men’s basketball team from Coppin State University. During the K-3rd grade lunch period, the players sat with our young scholars, engaging in lively conversations and answering curious questions. The students were mesmerized by the players’ towering heights, eagerly soaking in the experience.
The Coppin State University basketball team, led by head coach Larry Stewart—a former NBA player and Coppin State Hall of Fame inductee—also got a taste of the elementary school experience. They joined in on an entertaining call-and-response activity led by GHEMS' own Mr. Spriggs, quickly realizing how much school has changed since their own early years. It was a memorable and exciting visit for both the students and the players, fostering a connection that made lunchtime extra special.
