Get ready to step into spaces designed to inspire and celebrate the best City Schools offers! The City Schools’ District Office building workplace improvement project is moving ahead with remarkable momentum.

Please be aware of the following plans to make our lobbies more secure and welcoming:

1. Glass doors will be installed in the Guilford Avenue lobby in 1-2 weeks. The doors will be located between the lobby and the adjacent corridor.

2. Glass doors will be installed in the North Ave lobby in 3-4 weeks. The doors will be located between the lobby and the adjacent elevator landing.

3. In the future, staff will need to swipe for entry through the glass doors. All visitors will be checked in and verified via ID, and a visitor’s pass will be received before being buzzed in by the officer on duty. City Schools Police will collaborate with staff to manage more significant family events (i.e., Transfer window). Stay tuned for updates!

4. A designated area will be available for food deliveries in the Guildford lobby only. Unretrieved deliveries will be discarded at the end of each day.

5. Non-food deliveries can now only be made at the loading dock area, where a City Schools officer will now be posted. This change in procedure will also include Amazon and FedEx deliveries.

6. The recently removed portrait of Dr. Pinderhughes is being restored. It will be reinstalled in the North Avenue lobby along with a plaque about her remarkable impact on City Schools and Baltimore’s youth.

7. Lighted display cases will be installed along the orange wall in the North Avenue lobby for rotating exhibitions showcasing the work of our students, staff, departments, and school communities.

8. New reception seating will be placed in the North Avenue and Guildford Avenue lobbies in 2-3 weeks.

Stay tuned for these and other improvements to our work environment – all designed to support and celebrate the vital work we do daily.
