Bailas de Mi Tierra, a dance group started by José Reyes, founder and dance instructor, that meets in the dance studio at Patterson High School, was recently featured in a news segment on WBAL-TV!
Mr. Reyes started Bailas de Mi Tierra in 2008 with the goal of preserving, promoting, and presenting Mexican traditions through dance, folklore, and music. Bailas de Mi Tierra performs Mexican and traditional dances that showcase the country's diverse cultures over the 32 states that make up Mexico, and it provides children and adults with an experience that connects them with their roots despite being thousands of miles away from Mexico.
Mr. Reyes and Bailas de Mi Tierra were also invited to Mayor Scottâs Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration that will take place at City Hall on Wednesday, October 9! Mr. Reyes was thanked for his commitment to the Latinx community by Mayor Scott, and they will formally announce the winners of the 2024 Hispanic Heritage Awards at the celebration ceremony.
City Schools is so proud of the accomplishments of Mr. Reyes and Bailas de Mi Tierra and their work! Reyes told 11 News that anyone can join Bailes de Mi Tierra.
