Justin Holbrook is the current principal at Armistead Gardens Elementary Middle, a 3-year-old to 8th grade school in Baltimore City. Prior to becoming a principal, he served as an assistant principal for three years and trained for one year as a resident principal in BCPSS. As an educator, Holbrook taught all subjects in 1st grade and then transitioned to 4th grade math and science where he was named as the 2017 Baltimore City Schools Teacher of the Year and a finalist for Maryland Teacher of the Year. Most recently, he was named as a 2023 Connected School Leader by the Maryland Association of Elementary School Principals (MAESP). Holbrook is endorsed by the New Leaders Aspiring Principal Program and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Goucher College with a minor in Spanish and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Loyola University Maryland.
He is a 2024 Heart of the Schools Recipient!

This will be my 3rd year as the Assistant Principal at AG. I have been in the education field for 24 years. I am currently starting my 6th year as a AP, prior to that I was an educational associate for several years. Before my administration journey, my love for education started in the classroom where I taught 2nd and 4th grade at three other schools in Baltimore City Schools. I am originally from Ohio. I have two wonderful children, my daughter who is starting her 2nd year at the community college and a son who will be in 8th grade this year. Outside of school, my schedule is jammed pack with dance for my daughter, baseball with my son and my love for traveling. Fun fact--I love college football. Go Buckeyes and spend my fall Saturdays watching football.

I am joining the admin team at AG. I have taught at AG for over 10 years, and, until this year, taught 6th grade Math and was the Math Coach. I went to Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania for my Bachelors degree and I have a Masters in Reading Education and a Masters in Transformational Leadership from Towson University. I was born in New Jersey, moved to PA in middle school, and have lived in Baltimore since graduating college. I love spending time with my family and friends. Traveling with them around and outside of the US is my favorite thing to do with them! Sports, especially basketball, are a big part of my life (Celtics, Cowboys, Yankees are my teams). I am a Swiftie<3
