Greetings Mervo Mustangs,
Continuous reading is the best way to develop the skills necessary for success in careers, college, and for enjoyment in life. Parents, please assist us in this endeavor by encouraging your child to read his or her required novel selections. Students are encouraged to purchase a personal copy, but many libraries have copies available and/ or online. Students, we know you will do a wonderful job with this activity, but more importantly, you may discover an interesting new author, a new pastime, or a new appreciation for the joy of reading.
The novels below are a part of your summer reading according to grade level for the upcoming school year 2024-2025. You are responsible for reading and completing the assignment on Google classroom. Additionally, your English teacher will test you throughout the first week of school on the content of the novel.
Please submit your assignments on or before September 6, 2024. No excuses!!! This assignment is for ALL students whether you are scheduled for first or second semester English classes.

Step 1: Join your grade level google classroom. Codes listed below.
Step 2: Read your selected novel listed below. Some novels can be found digitally on google classroom. Physical copies are available at your local library and amazon.com or at the school until July 30th.
Rising:

Step 3: Go to the google classroom classwork page. Follow the instructions to complete Task 1 and Task 2.
Step 4: Submit your assignment via google classroom by the FIRST DAY of your English class.
Please note other assignments/ assessments will be given throughout the first two weeks of school based on the novel. Each day that the assignment is late, it is a deduction of five to ten points. So please complete the summer assignments by September 6, 2024.
